'Return of the Spotted Dog Dalmatian Run’

(in honor of the original mascot of the Mother Hash)

A Little History:

 

At the end of the 20th century, the annual dare in colonial KL (Kuala Lumpur) involved swimming from the Royal Selangor Club terrace to the State Secretariat and back, when the Klang River flooded the Padang. But the ‘Spotted Dog’ as the club was affectionately known, was also home to another eccentric sporting event that caught on around the world. The Hash, a cross-country chase ~ invariably followed by a drinking bout ~ was started in 1938, when the Selangor Club was the preferred watering hole for colonial bachelors. A certain AS Gisbert, having drunk too much at the Long Bar, went for a jog around the Padang to sober up. In no time, Mr. Gisbert’s Hash had a band of disciples who took to the new sport with varying degrees of seriousness.

The run, named after the Club’s dining room, the Hash House, ventured out into the countryside surrounding KL where ‘hounds’ chased ‘hares’, along a paper trail. The KL Hash, known as the ‘Mother Hash’ to Hash House Harriers around the world…

 

Hence… your DC Full mQQn H3 are bringing back the ‘Spotted Dog’!!

 

This year’s event, the pre-lewd to the DC Area’s Red Dress Run, will be held on Friday, October 10th 2008.

 

             WHAT: Full mOOn Hash #250.

             WHEN: Friday, October10th, 7:00 PM -- pack away at 7:15.
WHERE: Clarendon Metro.
ONONON:  Rhodeside Grill, 1836 Wilson Blvd.,.corner of Wilson Blvd and Rhodes St, Arlington.  703 243-0145.

COST: $20 for run, beer, food and giveaway.
Directions:
*METRO: Clarendon Metro Orange Line.  Exit station, and look for hashers.
*Driving: Get to Clarendon Metro at corner of Highland St between Clarendon Blvd and Wilson Blvd.
 
*Parking:  FREE parking after 6 PM on the street, or after 5 pm in the Arlington County Department of Human Resources building at the NE Corner of Highland and Wilson.  Entrance is on Highland St.
*Special instructions: A to B.  Bag vehicle provided.  Trail is dog friendly, apres is NOT. Urban shiggy. There might be a beer check if you're nice to the Hares.

 ** ID is mandatory on trail and to get into après so incorporate it into your costume.**
